SEA CUCUMBER NEGOTIATION UPDATE

July 27, 2021

July 27, 2021 – The Sea Cucumber Committee met this evening to discuss the ongoing dispute with processors. The Committee wishes to stress the following points:

1. According to a letter received by FFAW-Unifor on Friday, July 23rd, DFO will not cancel sea cucumber permits for conditions not being met due to a labour dispute. The entire letter can be viewed HERE.

2. It is the position of the Committee to continue to not fish. The Committee appreciates that this is not easy, but we firmly believe that the consequences of fishing under the current schedule far outweigh any benefit.
