UPDATED PROTOCOLS FOR INTERACTION WITH OIL INSTALLATIONS

July 16, 2025

One Ocean, the liaison organization for the fishing and petroleum sectors, has assembled a document called the “Protocols for Communication with Oil Installations on the Grand Banks.” This two-page document outlines the various zone information (radio, safety, precautionary, exclusion), associated coordinates, as well as radio information for the offshore petroleum installations. Copy has been updated to include the location coordinates of the West White Rose Platform and its associated radio zone.

In the past, One Ocean has made laminated copies of the attached to give to harvesters to keep aboard their vessels. The last copy was from 2017 when Hebron was added (the 2017 and earlier copies have the White Rose Field Safety Zone information, which with the addition of West White Rose is unchanged). Hard copies of this revised protocols will be made available at future meetings for those interested.
