PANEL SIDES WITH FFAW ON 2019 PRICE FOR SNOW CRAB

April 3, 2019
04/03/2019
Moments ago, FFAW-Unifor received word from the Standing Fish Price Setting Panel that the panel sided with the Union’s price of $5.38. ASP proposed a price of $4.95 per pound.
On the heels of the snow crab management plan released earlier today, this is welcome news to our province’s snow crab harvesters.
As harvesters know, the market for snow crab remains very high and demand remains strong. There are no inventories in the United States to put a drag on price, and American currency is stronger this year than last, with the USD strengthening by approximately 5%.
Congratulations and thank you to the negotiating team for your hard work and input over the last few weeks!
