Closure of the Northern Cod Stewardship Fishery in NAFO Divisions 3KL
DFO advises harvesters that the 2023 Cod Stewardship Fishery in NAFO Divisions 3KL will close on Saturday, September 16th at 1800 hours to all vessel classes.
The Department has been closely monitoring landings and the marine forecast. We anticipate that the Maximum Authorized Harvest for NAFO Divisions 3KL (10,399t) will be reached at this time.
The Department prioritizes safety at sea. If a harvester is unable to retrieve their gear by the close time due to safety, they are advised to contact their local C&P detachment.
The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2023-248 has been revoked and Variation Order 2023-253 comes into effect on September 15, 2023.
