UPDATE ON SNOW CRAB PRICE AND COURT PROCEEDINGS

April 1, 2025

Yesterday, FFAW-Unifor’s new Negotiator and Policy Manager, Ray Critch, was in court to represent the Union against ASP’s application to push the season opening date back to April 1. The judge had some concerns about how provincial Minister of Fisheries Gerry Byrne reached his decision, but he also wanted to hear from the members of the Price Setting Panel on what schedule for hearings would be practical.

The parties will all be back in court on Wednesday morning to hear from lawyers for the Minister and to hear from the Panel on their availability. It is possible that the Hearing will be moved up, but it is unlikely to be moved earlier than Friday, April 4. Updates will be provided when available.
