SNOW CRAB NEGOTATIONS UPDATE

January 29, 2024

Face-to-face price negotiations for the 2024 snow crab season have resumed this week in St. John’s. The parties (FFAW-Unifor Negotiating Committee and ASP) plan to meet in person all this week in a concerted effort to reach a deal by week’s end.

“Our Union is looking forward to an intensive week of face-to-face bargaining and is hopeful a deal can be reached between the two parties, so we can get this year’s crab season started on time and on the right foot, but most importantly with a pricing deal that works for harvesters,” said Greg Pretty, President of FFAW-Unifor.

Harvesters have been clear that the Blackwood Formula as written will not work and other formula offers are now being exchanged. This important work will continue over the week. Further updates will be provided to members when available.
