2J3KL Northern Cod Fishery Reminder of 3KL Regular Period Landings for the Inshore Fleet

DFO advises that as of Tuesday, August 20, landings for the 2024 inshore 3KL-based regular period have reached approximately 6,929 t (77%) of the amount allocated for this period (9,043 t).

The Department will continue to closely monitor this fishery to ensure that the total harvest for the 3KL-based regular period remains within the allocated amount. As per the Conservation Harvesting Plan (CHP), the fishery for the 3KL regular period will close should landings approach the allocated amount prior to the end of the scheduled period of September 14.

Based on current activity, the amount allocated for the 3KL-based regular period may be reached early next week. The closure date will be communicated in advance via a Notice to Fisher Harvesters.
