MSC BALTIC III SALVAGE UPDATE

October 1, 2025

As of September 31st, salvage work remains active and focused on safe and steady removal. The remaining salvage is complex, but efforts continue.

• All of the bulk oil has now been removed from the vessel, with progress continuing on removing residual fuel and other pollutants.

• 65 containers remain on board, and work to remove them is ongoing, though weather has sometimes slowed progress.

• Construction of the cableway is nearly complete and expected to be ready in early October. This will provide safe access to the vessel through the winter so work can continue.

Should members have additional comments or questions, they should reach out to FFAW staff Katie Power or Jeff Griffin. Representatives at MSC are happy to meet and discuss with members as requested as well.
