WEST WHITE ROSE FISHERIES LIAISON COMMITTEE ELECTION MEETING

Fish harvesters in 3Ps interested in joining the FFAW West White Rose Fisheries Liaison Committee for Phase 2 of their marine operations are invited to an election meeting at the Southern Harbour Community Centre on Thursday, January 30th at 2pm.

The newly elected members will be engaged on the tow out of the concrete gravity structure (CGS) from the graving dock and any inshore site work to prepare for offshore tow.

The Fishers Liaison Committee (FLC) is a forum for the project team and fish harvesters to share information and engage in proactive planning in areas where fish harvesting activities interact with the West White Rose Project.

This committee will meet regularly with project representatives between now and project end, sometime this summer, and represent other harvesters in the Placentia Bay area. They will share interests, concerns, maintain an open mind regarding the points of others, and provide timing, location, and other critical information on fishing activity near the project area. These elected members will represent their community and 3Ps fish harvesters by sharing project information, plans and important fishing knowledge and perspectives.

There is an expectation that the FFAW FLC will work productively with project representatives to reach reasonable solutions to resolve potential issues.

The 2025 marine scope refers to the inshore tow, the mooring of the CGS at the ballast site, and the offshore tow. Members at this upcoming meeting are asked to consider what communities they want to see represented on this committee based on the location of these activities. Please see attached maps.
