FFAW-Unifor Statement on Tragedy near Freshwater Bay

September 8, 2016
09/08/2016

On behalf of the FFAW-Unifor Executive and membership, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and communities affected by the loss of our fellow fish harvesters.

This latest tragedy is a heart-breaking reminder of how dangerous the profession of fishing is and how unforgiving the sea from which so many earn their living can be.

The Transportation Safety Board has indicated its intention to investigate the circumstances surrounding this terrible tragedy. FFAW-Unifor remains committed to advancing safety in our industry including our work with the Fish Harvesting Safety Association.

Again, our deepest sympathies go to all feeling this great loss.

Solidarity from the FFAW-Unifor Family.
