Applications Open for Green Crab Harvesting in Placentia Bay

Applications are now being accepted for green crab harvesting under Marine Institute’s current project in Placentia Bay. Harvesters must fish from one of the following locations:

| Swift Current |
| Baine Harbour |
| St. Joseph’s/Bay De L’Eau |
| Northeast Arm Placentia |
| Southeast Arm Placentia |
| Fox Harbour/Placentia Sound |
Periods to be fished are:
| Fishing Period | Fishing Occurrence | Days total | Haul Type |
| April 1- June 30, 2019 | Once every 4 weeks | 3 days | 1 night soak |
| July 2-Aug 31, 2019 | 5 days a week | 44 days | 1 night and 1 day soak |
| Sept 3-Nov 30, 2019 | 2 days a week | 26 days | 1 night soak |
| Dec 3-March 31, 2020 | Once every 4 weeks | 4 days | 1 night soak |
To obtain an application please call the St. John’s office at 576-7276. Application deadline is Wednesday April 10th at 4:30 pm. Only those successful in the draw process will be contacted.
