Complete the Atlantic Halibut Tagging Program Survey for a Chance to Win $1000.00!

The Marine Institute is giving you the chance to win one of three prizes of $1000.00 each by completing a short and simple survey!

The Atlantic Halibut tagging program provides information about movement, fish growth, natural mortality and the proportion of fish that are caught in the fishery to inform the assessment of the stock.

Now is your chance to provide important feedback on the tagging program. The survey is short and simple, and will take less than 5 minutes to complete.  There are three prizes of $1000.00 each from the first 100 licence holders who completes the survey. Complete as soon as possible as winners will be contacted on July 31, 2022.

Dr. Erin Carruthers

Dr. Erin Carruthers is the Science Director and Senior Fisheries Scientist with the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union (FFAW-Unifor), which is the labour union that represents the owner-operator fleet in Newfoundland and Labrador. The FFAW is committed to research and management that supports healthy oceans, fisheries, and coastal communities. Dr. Carruthers received her Ph. D. in Biology from Memorial University in 2011 followed by a postdoctoral fellowship with the Centre for Fisheries Ecosystems Research. Before coming to Newfoundland, Erin worked as a Research Biologist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada at the St. Andrews Biological Station. Her current research program is co-constructed with fish harvesters and includes research on coastal fishing communities, collaborative longline and trap surveys, and best practices for the avoidance, handling and release of unwanted catch.
