Note to Harvesters Participating in the 2J3KL Stewardship Fishery

July 29, 2017
07/29/2017

The 2017 2J3KL Stewardship cod fishery will resume on July 30th.  The extended cod fishery in 2J3KL has increased harvest opportunities later into the fall (in addition the increased opportunity this past spring). The capelin fishery, which is important to many harvesters, has started later than usual and is consuming much of the capacity for some buyers for the short window the capelin fishery is open. Therefore, it is advisable that you check with buyers prior to landing cod as the season reopens.
