GREEN CRAB MITAGATION CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT
FORTUNE BAY
Now accepting applications for four (4) charter opportunities to conduct green crab mitigation and management work in Fortune Bay.
Harvester Responsibilities
- Haul green crab traps (Fukui traps) at designated site up to two times per week for four weeks as per protocols provided by DFO.
- Dispose of green crab as per DFO protocols
- Work to be completed between August 16th to October 31st as per experimental license conditions issued by DFO.
Eligibility Criteria
- Level II Fish Harvester.
- Head of an enterprise licensed to fish commercially at designated site
- Harvesters eligible to apply are those to fish in one of the following areas:
- Hermitage/ Sandyville/ Seal Cove
- Harbour Breton
- Belleoram to Wreck Cove
- Pool’s Cove
- Member in good standing with the FFAW
- Must be registered with the Professional Fish Harvesters Certification Board
- Eligible for an experimental license issued by Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Financial Compensation: $400/day
