SEEKING HARVESTERS FOR THE LOBSTER SCIENCE PROGRAM IN LFA 4A, LFA 5, AND LFA 8

May 15, 2024

We are seeking lobster harvesters in LFA 4A (Notre Dame Bay West), LFA 5 (Bonavista Bay) LFA 8 (Southern Shore) to participate in the Lobster Science Program. Data collected from this program is crucial for tracking and assessing the status of lobster in the Newfoundland and Labrador region, with for example, the data from the modified trap providing information on incoming recruitment.

Participating harvesters will fish a modified trap (as part of the total number of traps as per your license conditions), complete a modified trap logbook, commercial logbook, and take an at-sea sampling technician on several trips throughout the season.

Participating harvesters receive an honorarium of $200 for the completion and submission of the Modified Trap Logbook and an additional honorarium of $200 for the completion and submission of an FFAW Commercial Logbook.

To apply, or for more information, please contact April Wiseman at 576-7276. The deadline is Friday, May 24.
