ROCK INSTALLATION FOR MARITIME LINK SUB CABLES

October 10, 2025

Members on the west coast near Port aux Basques are reminded Emera NL is planning a rock installation campaign to enhance the protection of both the Maritime Link submarine cables and local fish harvesting activities in early November.

The project will span several locations along both the East and West submarine cables, situated between 3 and 24km from shore.

The work will be confined to the original footprint of the Maritime Link, and is expected to take approximately 7-10 days to complete.

Please note, this activity should not interfere with any fishing operations in the area. Additionally, a navigational warning and a notice to mariners will be issued at the time of the project to ensure safety and awareness.

Members in the area with questions or concerns should please reach out to Katie Power, Industry Relations Representative at kpower@ffaw.ca or 709-330-0531.
