ARGENTIA RENEWABLES INFO SESSION FOR ONSHORE WIND PROJECT

Interested members in 3Ps and the Argentia area are invited to the Argentia Renewables Open House information session, happening June 3, from 4pm – 7pm, at Star of the Sea. This on-shore, land-based wind project from Pattern Energy is in the preliminary stages. Construction is not expected for another 3-4 years. CENOVUS DREDGING INFO SESSION FOR 3PS

Cenovus Energy, operator of the West White Rose Project, will be conducting a dredging campaign in the Argentia Harbour area in Q4 2024 timeframe. Representatives from the company will be available for an information and Q&A session for members in the area on February 2nd, at 1:30 pm in the Placentia Bay Cultural Arts Centre, 17 Patterson Drive, Placentia.

LFA 11 LICENSE HOLDERS – MEETING IN HARBOUR BRETON

FFAW will be holding a meeting for all LFA 11 lobster license holders on Wednesday January 24th at 2:00PM at the Lion’s Club in Harbour Breton. The discussion will be around policy issues in the lobster fishery. Member representative Dwan Street and Secretary-Treasurer Jason Spingle will be in attendance.

COMMUNITY MEETING – PLACENTIA

FFAW will be holding a meeting for all interested fish harvesters at the Star of the Sea hall in Placentia on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11 am. Member Representative Dwan Street and Secretary-Treasurer Jason Spingle will be in attendance.

LFA 11 licence holder meeting – Marystown

There will be a meeting for all LFA 11 license holders on Tuesday, January 16 at 1 pm at the Marystown Hotel to discuss current policy issues. All harvesters are urged to attend. Member Representative Dwan Street and Secretary-Treasurer Jason Spingle will be in attendance.

MEETING FOR 10A CRAB FLEET – CLARENVILLE INN

There will be a meeting for 10A crab fleet to discuss proposals on vessel length for the current 44’11” fleet restriction on Wednesday, December 6th at the Clarenville Inn at 11 am. All license holders are urged to attend. Member representative Dwan Street and Secretary-Treasurer Jason Spingle will be in attendance.

AREA 9 AND 10 MOBILE HERRING MEETING

FFAW will be holding a meeting for all mobile gear license holders in area 9 and 10 on Wednesday Nov. 22nd at 10am at the Lions Club in Whitbourne. A new herring committee will be formed at this time. Season opening and closing dates will also be decided. Member Reps Dwan Street and Miranda Butler will be in attendance.

Meeting in Musgrave Harbour

FFAW is holding a meeting for all fish harvesters from Frederickton to Cape Freels in Musgrave Harbour on Tuesday, January 28 at 10 am at the Firehall.

The committee for the Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in NL will be conducting their first in-person public engagement sessions. FFAW members are encouraged to attend.

To clarify, these meetings are not directly related to World Energy in Stephenville (Provincial, land-based wind farm) or Pattern Energy in Argentia (Provincial, land-based wind farm). This is the Federal, Regional Assessment Committee’s data collection process used then make recommendations to Federal governments for potential future, ocean-based wind farms.
