LOBSTER SETTLEMENT CHARTER OPPORTUNITY - FORTUNE BAY

Now accepting applications for three (3) charter opportunities to conduct work sampling lobster at various life stages in Fortune Bay.
Project requirements:
– July 2026:
o Set up to 12 settlement trays at two (2) pre-determined sites in Fortune Bay in early July 2026.
– October/ November 2026:
o Haul the settlement trays set in July as per provided protocols.
o Set and haul up to five (5) fukui traps (24 hr soak)
o Set and haul up to five (5) modified commercial lobster traps (24 hr soak)
o Bring an at-sea technician conduct measurements for all hauls.
Eligibility Criteria
– Level II Fish Harvester.
– Head of an enterprise licensed to fish lobster commercially at designated site
– Member in good standing with the FFAW
– Must be registered with the Professional Fish Harvesters Certification Board
– Vessel must be at least 23’ with a hauler and boom capable of smoothly deploying and retrieving up to twelve 200 lb settlement trays
– Vessel must be crewed sufficiently to accurately deploy up to twelve 200 lb lobster settlement trays.
– Eligible for an experimental license issued by Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Financial Compensation: $700/day
