Capelin Prices 2015

Gains in the 2014 capelin fishery continues into 2015

There is a two-tiered minimum price system for the 2015 capelin fishery:

Price “A” – 15 cents per pound

Specs for “A” Price

  • 55 count per kilo and under
  • Maximum 10% feed content
  • Minimum 40% usable females, which are classified as 5.25 inches or higher.
  • All female capelin less than 5.25 inches will be classed as males only for the purpose of determining the percentage of usable females for price “A” purposes

Price “B” – 10 cents per pound

Specs for “B” Price

  • 55 count per kilo and under
  • Maximum 10% feed content
  • Minimum 40% females, regardless of size. All female capelin, including broken, damaged, over-matured, or less than 5.25 inches are counted to assess whether the 40% threshold for Price “B” is met.

If the capelin exceeds 55 count per kilo or 10% feed content or is below 40% female, the price shall be determined between the individual harvester and processer.
