The Price Setting Panel has just announced the price of capelin for the 2022 fishing season, siding with the FFAW’s final offer. The minimum prices will be: $0.35/lb. for Grade A Capelin of 45 count or less per pound, with a usable female percentage of at least 80%. This is in contrast to ASP’s final offer of $0.18/lb. Noted in the Panel’s decision, there is insufficient evidence to suggest declines in the market as purported by ASP. Thank you again to the negotiating committee for your hard work and determination. While processing companies will stop at nothing in their bid to drive down harvesters’ share of prices, your Union remains equally determined to fight for the fair market value owed to fish harvesters for your catch.
