In 2025, there was a temporary increase in the number of pots permitted to be fished. The increase was to allow license holders with a single license to fish 120 pots and 240 pots for any harvesters with combined/buddy-up arrangements, applicable only for the 2025 season. The limit prior to 2025 was 100 pots for a single license and 200 pots in a combined/buddy-up arrangement.

This vote is allowing the opportunity for the fleet to decide if 120 pots for a single license and 240 pots in a combined/buddy-up arrangement should become a permanent measure.

If the fleet votes in favour of the pot increase to become permanent, then that recommendation will be submitted to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the department makes the final decision.
