10A Snow Crab
During meetings conducted by your 3Ps Member Representative and after hearing from harvesters in the area, the number of pots allowed in the CMA 10A (Placentia Bay) buddy-up and combined enterprises in the crab fishery was raised for consideration. After further meetings conducted November 12-13, 2025, it was decided this topic should be put to a vote for all 10A license holders.
At present, CMA 10A harvesters are allowed a maximum of 200 pots on a single license, a buddy up, and a combined enterprise. This vote is to determine if harvesters wish to have a 100-pot increase in buddy ups and combined enterprises (a maximum of 200 pots on a single license, with a maximum of 300 pots in a buddy up or combined enterprise).
If approved by the majority of voters in CMA 10A, a recommendation for the pot increase will be submitted to DFO. If it is NOT approved by the majority of license holders, the recommendation will not move forward.
This vote does not guarantee any recommendations will be accepted, as any changes to pot limits would be subject to DFO approval.
If you have questions on the CMA 10A vote on the pot limit increase, please contact your Member Representative Crystal Lynn Gorman at (709)690-8803 or clgorman@ffaw.ca
