SEA CUCUMBER NEGOTIATION UPDATE

May 28, 2021

May 28, 2021 – The Standing Fish Price Setting Panel heard arguments today on the price of sea cucumber. FFAW-Unifor submitted a price of $0.80 cents per pound, (a return to the 2019 price), while ASP submitted a price of $0.60, together with a schedule of sampling procedures to measure water loss. FFAW does not support these procedures as drafted and argued strenuously against them at the Panel.

If the Panel selects the ASP price, it has to also accept the schedule submitted by ASP. FFAW did not submit a schedule. We focused on price.

The Panel’s decision will be released next Tuesday, June 1st, or Wednesday, June 2nd.
