Why FFAW-Unifor Will Not Debate Ryan Cleary

It is not our job to help Mr. Cleary with his credibility problems. FFAW has a proud history of representing our members. This is not an election campaign. It is a raid.

Our Union is spending our time engaging with our members and working to ensure there is a successful 2017 fishery. We have been answering their questions and talking to them about issues for months and we will continue to do so.

We refuse to contribute to Mr. Cleary’s desperate attempt to further his own personal ambitions at the expense of the harvesters and the fishing industry of our province.

We remind Mr. Cleary that this is not a side show and we refuse to have the fishing industry turned into a reality TV episode featuring a narcissistic liar.

If Mr. Cleary is so confident, he should apply with the NL labour board. And tell harvesters the truth; who is funding your raid?

The host of CBC’s the Broadcast summed it up best:
“A face-to-face debate on equal terms would grant Ryan Cleary and FISH-NL a legitimacy they have not earned.”
