CALL YOUR FEDERAL MP ABOUT ISSUES WITH THE BENEFIT PORTAL!

September 27, 2021

September 27 – The Canadian Independent Fish Harvester’s Federation sent the letter below to the Deputy Minister of Fisheries last Friday, September 24th, referencing the systematic failures experienced by fish harvesters applying for and appealing the Benefit. As noted in the letter, government has said repeatedly since the onset of the pandemic “No person should be left behind.” Therefore, the fishing industry is asking why this program cannot be adjusted accordingly to provide the same protections?

FFAW-Unifor are asking members to contact their federal MP directly to communicate the issues that they continue to experience with the Fish Harvester’s Benefit Portal. It is the responsibility of our federal representatives to help resolve the problematic system:

Hon. Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Natural Resources – (709) 772-4608
Gudie Hutchings, MP for Long Range Mountains – (709) 637-4540
Yvonne Jones, MP for Labrador – (709) 896-2483
Churence Rogers, MP for Coast of Bonavista-Burin-Trinity – (709) 832-1383
Clifford Small, MP for Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame – (709) 687-0910
Ken McDonald, Member of Parliament for Avalon – (709) 834-3424
