BBQ Demonstration in Support of St Anthony Seafoods Workers

August 24, 2023

FFAW-Unifor is hosting a free community barbeque/demonstration in support of St. Anthony Seafoods Plant Workers who are being mistreated by their employer, Royal Greenland. The event will take place TOMORROW, Friday, August 25 from 3 to 6pm on East Street in St. Anthony.

A decision from a 2021 arbitration award identified that plant manager, Stedman Letto, did not adhere to minimum Labour Standards and violated the Collective Agreement on several occasions. Letto continues to violate the Collective Agreement, mistreat workers, and shirk basic Canadian labour standards. FFAW-Unifor has formally requested Letto’s removal – a request that has been denied by Royal Greenland.

FFAW-Unifor representatives will be on hand to serve hot dogs and hamburgers, have a yarn with plant workers, harvesters and community members, and rally community support for SAS workers! The weather is looking beautiful, so come have a burger and make it clear: LETTO HAS TO GO!

All SAS plant workers will also receive a free t-shirt.
