4R Atlantic Halibut Sustainability Plan / Participation Criteria Update

In consultation with DFO, the FSSSB is providing an amendment to the Participation Criteria for 2023 ONLY. The revised criteria has been expanded to include 2019:

  1. Operated a fishing enterprise that earned a minimum of $5,000.00 (five- thousand dollars) in fishing revenue (i.e. $5,000 in recorded landed value with DFO) during one of the last four years (in 2019, 2020, 2021, or 2022) – excluding any revenues earned from Atlantic Halibut.
  • This criteria has been established for the 2023 season only and will be reviewed prior to the 2024 fishing season

    2. License holders who were unable to meet the $5,000 minimum landed value requirement in 2019, 2020, 2021 or 2022 may be deemed eligible to participate if they are able to demonstrate that they meet the following requirements:

  • Encountered a valid extenuating circumstance for not meeting this requirement.

Anyone who did not apply based on the criteria in the mail-out brochure has until June 30, 2023 to submit their application.
