3Ps Groundfish Advisory Meeting

February 1, 2023

DFO held the 3Ps Groundfish Advisory today in St. John’s, with participation by inshore harvesters and council members Brett Cox, Alfred Fitzpatrick, and Jamie Barnett participating along with FFAW staff.

As discussed at the Advisory, the Working Group to develop a Rebuilding Plan for 3Ps Cod did not agree on management approaches to bring the stock our of the Critical Zone and that would be consistent with requirements under the Fish Stock Provisions.

FFAW reiterated our recommendation for an F=0.07 management approach, which would meet rebuilding targets but also allow for a rollover of the TAC.
