Lobster Negotiations Update

April 8, 2021 –  Confidentiality is now lifted with the conclusion of the negotiation process, and FFAW-Unifor can share the following update with members today for the price of Lobster for the 2021 season.

Discussions were not met with a resolution. At 4pm this afternoon, FFAW and the Association of Seafood Producers (ASP) submitted final offers in advance of a hearing before the Standing Fish Price Setting Panel.

The ASP’s final offer for Lobster RMP 2021 is to shift the Urner Barry (UB) schedule to Tuesday Thursday from Thursday Tuesday, and also maintain $0.15. This will reduce the share to harvesters.

FFAW has proposed to keep the current Thursday Tuesday schedule, and asked for a reduction of the UB deduction from $0.15 to $0.11 cents

The negotiating committee believes this is an extremely fair offer that is reflective of the strong market for lobster. Thank you to the FFAW Lobster Negotiating Committee for their hard work and commitment on behalf of members throughout negotiations.

FFAW-Unifor will keep members updated on the Panel’s decision.
