Inshore Rescue Boats (IRB) Program


In 2017 the Inshore Rescue Boats (IRB) training camp will start on May 2nd and finish on May 18th.

The training camp is quite intensive. Each successful candidate will graduate with a Small Vessel Operator Proficiency Certificate (SVOP) issued under Transport Canada, advanced level first aid training and a Rigid Hull Operator Proficiency (RHIOT) certificate issued by Canadian Coast Guard (CCG). Details on the location of the camp have yet to be confirmed but will be announced shortly.

In Newfoundland and Labrador CCG operates one IRB station in Long Pond, one in Conception Bay and one ion Notre Dame Bay. The operational season runs from the Saturday of the Victoria Day weekend until the Tuesday following Labour Day in September.

The recruitment for the summer of 2017 is presently open for applications. This process will close on January10, 2017. Now that many students are heading home for their Christmas break, it is a great opportunity to apply to this very rewarding summer program. Full details can be found at:
