FALL SHRIMP PRICE DECISION

September 15, 2021 – The Standing Fish Price Setting Panel released its decision on the Fall price of shrimp just moments ago, and selected the FFAW-Unifor position. Effective midnight Saturday, September 11, 2021, the average price for the species Fall Shrimp, will be:

  • $1.30/lb. for Shrimp landed at the plant.
  • $1.27/lb. for trucked Shrimp

The FFAW price of $1.30/lb represents a 14% increase over Summer prices, noting that the market information available (i.e., Gemba report, trade articles, Urner Barry) show an improving market situation over the past few months with increasing prices in the primary markets in the UK and Denmark. The FFAW also reiterated to the Panel that Canada has a significant advantage in UK markets via the post-Brexit trade agreement. Prices have increased since the Spring, inventories have normalized, and it is forecasted that prices will continue to strengthen in the Fall.

Thank You to the Shrimp Negotiation Committee for your input and information leading up to and during the negotiation process, you performed a great service to fellow harvesters.
