CORRECTION: MACKEREL FISHERY OPENING IN ALL AREAS

 

DFO advises that the Mackerel for fixed and mobile gear fishery (gillnet, trap, handlines, mechanical jigger, bar seine including tuck seine and purse seine) for vessels less than 19.8 meters, and the Mackerel mobile gear fishery for vessels greater than 19.8 meters in Mackerel Fishing Areas 1 – 14 will open at 0600 hours on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

 

All fish harvesters are reminded that in line with the dockside monitoring requirements for this fishery, all fish product must be weighed off at point of landing.

 

Harvesters are reminded the minimum size for retention of mackerel is 26.8 cm.

 

Harvesters are reminded of the Atlantic Salmon migration closure and fishing is not permitted in those areas.

 

Licence conditions can be obtained through DFO’s National On-line Licencing System.

 

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Regions gives notice that Variation Orders 2014-173, 2020-250 and 2020-251 have been revoked and Variation Orders 2021-192, 2021-193 and 2021-194 come into effect on July 22, 2021.
