Changes to the 3LMNO <65 Fixed Gear Greenland Halibut (Turbot) Fishery

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans advises harvesters of the following management measures for the 3LMNO <65 FG Greenland Halibut Fisheries:

Trip limits for 3LMNO will increase to 55,000 lbs Round Weight.

Multiple trips are permitted.

The tentative release date for new conditions is August 5, 2021.

The number of nets permitted to be used will increase by 50 per depth zone

Harvesters can request new license conditions by e-mailing Kelly Firmage-O’Brien at kelly.firmage-o’[email protected]  Participation in round one of this fishery is not a requirement in order to receive new licence conditions.

The issuance and acceptance of these licence conditions is not a guarantee that sufficient quota will be available to harvest the amount on the permit. The Department will continue to closely monitor this fishery and closures may occur on short notice.

Notices to Fish Harvesters” for all commercial fisheries are now available online under the Fishery Notices link on the DFO NL Region webpage at
