2019 Seal Harvest
DFO advises fish harvesters that new applications for commercial assistant seal licences will be considered. Applicants must successfully complete the Humane Harvesting Training on the three-step process prior to applying. Applications for new assistant licences will be available through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS).
In addition, Professional Level 1 and Level 2 fish harvesters who held a commercial assistant seal licence in 2018 will be upgraded to professional. This upgrade will be reflected on an amended licence accessible through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) in the coming days.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Licensing Policy will apply to new applications and upgrades.
