The fishing industry has been central to the development of Newfoundland and Labrador for over 500 years as the economic engine of coastal communities throughout the province. The industry generates direct employment for approximately 20,000 people, with thousands more employed indirectly due to spin-off benefits.

Industrial-Retail-Offshore

The Industrial-Retail-Offshore Sector is made up of fish processing workers, as well as workers employed in the brewing, manufacturing, hotel, hospitality steel fabrication industries and other retail workplaces throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
