Overview | FFAW-Unifor | Fish Food & Allied Workers Union

Overview

Nearly 50 Years in the Making

Since 1971, the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union has played a vital role in shaping the economic, social and cultural landscape of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Through the collective strength of our 15,000 members, we’ve built a strong Union that brings together inshore fish harvesters, plant workers, trawlerpersons, hotel, brewery, metal fabrication, marine transportation, and mineral processing workers.

Over the years our Union has faced many challenges, from access to fish resources and environmental shifts, to government inaction and corporations denying working people the dignity and respect they deserve. Our Union has met these challenges head-on with a firm resolve and an unbreakable commitment to our members and their families.
