CRAB REBATE AND EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

November 28, 2025

Crab rebate payments must be filed with Service Canada as retro payments to the applicable claim period you have already filed.

Since these are payments for a fishing period already completed, these payments will not affect current EI payments unless you did not reach maximum earnings – in which case your EI payments will increase accordingly.

For additional questions, please call Service Canada at 1-800-206-7218. The best time to call is between 8:30am-9:00am while phone lines are open only to Newfoundland and Labrador.
