Capelin Committees Unanimous: No Fishery at 36 Cents

June 19, 2025

On Tuesday evening, capelin committee members from all fleets and bays in 3KL met to discuss the 2025 fishery.

At the top of the agenda was the pricing decision by the Standing Fish Price Setting Panel, which last week selected the price offer of 36 cents from ASP. Given the lack of supply from other producing countries, like Iceland and Norway, this is a year when NL capelin will be in high demand and the price to harvesters should reflect that.

Committee members were adamant that no fishery would proceed at 36 cents for Grade A capelin given the strength of the market this year.

Updates will be provided.
