Update for Workers Affected by COVID-19

We understand the stress that every member is feeling at this time. This is unprecedented on many levels. Like so many more of the challenges we face, it takes people working together to make a difference. Right now, the entire world is facing this challenge. Ensuring our family, friends and communities remain safe is the most important thing right now.  FFAW-Unifor is committed to providing the most up-to-date information from the most reputable sources for our members.

If you are a fish harvester or plant worker who cannot return to work due to COVID-19 and your EI claim has expired, and you have no income, you are eligible for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).  The application process for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) is now open. Apply quickly via your CRA My Account or via telephone 1-800-959-2041 or 1-800-959-2019. You will need your SIN, verify you’re out of work due to COVID-19 and that you made over $5000 in income last year.
